چکیده

Complex Event Processing (CEP) has emerged as a relevant new field of software engineering and computer science. Many of the current approaches to CEP are declarative and based on rules, and often on logic-programming-like languages and semantics. Some work on CEP is situated within the field of logical agents. Usually, event processing is based upon Event-Condition-Action rules, which are however able to manage only simple events or unstructured sets of events. In this paper, we refine the notion of “complex event”, which is an event that cannot be detected directly, but rather can be identified (not necessarily in a deterministic way) by interrelating sets of simple events. We propose a formalization and a possible implementation of such notion, that we extend to complex actions.

Extending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths

Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...

Relationships between Actions Performed by Institutional Agents, Human Agents or Software Agents

The paper presents a logical framework for the integration of interactions between institutional agents, human agents and software agents. It is shown, through a case study, that the relationships between actions performed by these three kinds of agents are defined in terms of the Searle’s ”counts as” concept and their justifications are based on the roles hold by human agents or by a causal re...

Analyzing and Specifying the Mechanism of Temporary Landscape

Although it has physical effects, temporary landscape as a new issue provides various potentialas a place events that can’t be ignored because of wide range effects on promoting and upgrading the quality ofspace. The purpose of this study is to analyze the status and mechanism of temporary landscape. As a basic andpractical research, it is done by using the correlation method and descriptive-an...

Complex Reactivity with Preferences in Rule-Based Agents

In this paper, we extend our previous work on complex reaction in rule-based logical agents. In particular, we introduce the possibility of defining and exploiting complex preferences for choosing the course of action to undertake in response to external events, also based upon a (simplified) form of modal reasoning and on sequences of past events.

A Logic-Based Framework for Reactive Systems

We sketch a logic-based framework in which computation consists of performing actions to generate a sequence of states, with the purpose of making a set of reactive rules in the logical form antecedents  consequents all true. The antecedents of the rules are conjunctions of past or present conditions and events, and the consequents of the rules are disjunctions of conjunctions of future condit...
